GENESIS of Ambika Sishu Kendra
Ambika Sishu Kendra, an Institute for Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Intellectual and Multiple Disabilities, an ingenious off-shoot of Hemchand Devchand Charities Trust, founded in September, 1995 with 5 students, heralded a new chapter in the service sector in Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh. The institute was raised and nurtured in it’s infantry by Mrs. Hasyalatha Metha, Mrs. Arti Shah, Mrs. Bindu Shah and likeminded dedicated personalities, with the affiliation of Indian Institute of Cerebral Palsy, Kolkata.
As years rolled by, the growing strength and the expansion of services and training activities required a more spacious and more accommodating premises.
Ambika Sishu Kendra shifted to a four-storied barrier-free premises with a total plinth area of 22400 sq. ft. in August 2009. Academic and therapeutic services and medical consultations are provided FREE for all the persons diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Intellectual and Multiple Disabilities.
The institute works for the basic and fundamental rights of persons with special needs, focusing on diagnosis, education, therapeutical intervention, advocacy, awareness creation, information dissemination, networking and also emphasizes on manpower and human resource training.
