Ambika Sishu Kendra, Institute for Disability Rehabilitation and Empowerment, managed by Hemchand Devchand Charities Trust, Kurnool organised a two day Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) approved State Continued Rehabilitation Education (CRE) on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Indian scale for Assessment of Autism (ISAA tool) on 2nd and 3rd August, 2024.
The objective of this CRE was, to facilitate the Persons with ASD, to have appropriate diagnosis followed by certification facility as per RPD Act 2016, guidelines, where in they will receive the appropriate Disability Certificate from State Medical Board Members enabling them to avail Government - Central and State Schemes and Concessions.
The target participants were SADAREM and Medical Board Members for certification, medical doctors, Kurnool district administration official, multi-purpose rehabilitation therapists, RCI trained Special Educators, Inclusive School Staff, Clinical and rehabilitation psychologist, PG qualified Nursing Staff & Students and Parents.
National level expert, Dr. Saroj Arya, Clinical Psychologist, who has a distinction of developing Indian scale for Assessment of Autism (ISAA) and Indian Scale for Intelligence Test (ISIT) introduced Autism Spectrum Disorder conditions and V.R.P. Sheilaja Rao, Consultant and Course Coordinator for Diploma course offered at Ambika Sishu Kendra was the CRE Coordinator.
The 2-day program went very well with 2 case demonstrations, group discussions, pre and post-tests, individual feedback on ASD, ISAA Score Card Practicals.
The esteemed guest for the Inaugural Ceremony included Chief Guest - K. Madhusudhan Rao (District Revenue Officer & I/C Joint Collector, Kurnool) who was deputed to represent Collector on 2nd August for Inaugural Ceremony, in view of Emergency Flood Situation in Kurnool District. Guest of Honour's were Smt. Rais Fathima (AD, Welfare of Disabled, Senior Citizens & Transgenders, Kurnool), Dr. N. Nageswara Rao M.D (Professor and HOD, Dept. of Psychiatry, Govt. General Hospital, Kurnool) and Guest of Honour - Dr. C. Prabhakar Reddy (Superintendent, Govt. General Hospital, Kurnool)
The esteemed guest for the Valedictory Ceremony included Chief Guest, Dr Narendra Kumar (Administrative Officer, CRC, Bhopal, MP) and Guest of Honour was Smt. K. Swarnalatha (Principal, Montessori School, Kurnool, AP)
A Total of 124 participants had registered for the workshop of which 35 were RCI Professionals.
